The meaning
What Muraja'ah means in Islam
The Prophet compared memorised Qur'an to tethered camels: let go of the rope and they are gone. Traditional schools split the day into new memorisation, recent revision and old revision, called sabaq, sabqi and manzil in South Asian madrasas. Most people who lose their hifz lose it here rather than in the memorising.
