The meaning

What Juz means in Islam

The division is a reading aid rather than part of the revelation, and it usually cuts across a surah rather than falling neatly between two. In South Asia a juz is called a para or sipara. Reading one juz a day completes the whole Qur'an in a month, which is why almost every Ramadan schedule is built on it.
