The meaning
What Mufassal means in Islam
The name means the frequently divided, because the basmalah separates its many short surahs so often. Scholars split it into long, middle and short sections, which is the language books of fiqh use when describing what to recite in each prayer. Where it begins is disputed: most say Surah Qaf, others say al-Hujurat.
