The meaning

What Hizb means in Islam

The word means a share or portion, in the sense of a person's allotted reading. Each hizb is split again into four quarters, marked in the margin of most mushafs. In parts of North and West Africa the daily recitation of a mosque is organised around the hizb rather than the juz.
