The meaning

What Tarjamah means in Islam

No translation carries the Arabic wording, and every translator has already made interpretive choices, so a translation is really a compressed tafsir. This is why prayer is recited in Arabic; Abu Hanifah is reported to have allowed reciting the meaning in prayer, his two main students allowed it only for someone genuinely unable, and he is reported to have come round to their view. A translated volume is also not given the same rulings as a mushaf.
