The meaning
What Sidq means in Islam
The Qur'an tells the believers to be with the truthful (Qur'an 9:119), and the Prophet peace be upon him said truthfulness leads to righteousness and righteousness leads to Paradise, in Bukhari and Muslim. Writers on the heart use sidq more widely than honest speech: a truthful hope, a truthful repentance, a truthful claim to love Allah. In that sense its opposite is not only lying but posing.
