The meaning
What Nushrah means in Islam
Asked about nushrah, the Prophet peace be upon him said it is from the work of Shaytan, in a report collected by Abu Dawud. Scholars read this as the pre-Islamic method of going to another practitioner to break a spell, and they distinguish it from ruqya with the Qur'an and lawful supplication, which is permitted and was done by the Companions. In practice this is the line between a healer who recites what you can hear and understand, and one who does not.
