The meaning
What Mass al-Jinn means in Islam
The Qur'an describes a man rising as one struck by the touch of Shaytan (Qur'an 2:275), and the majority of Sunni scholars, Ibn Taymiyyah among them, took the possibility as established, while a minority read the verse as an image rather than a report. Even among those who affirm it, the classical books warn that most cases brought to them turned out to be illness, hardship or imagination. Where the symptoms are physical or psychiatric, the ordinary duty to seek medical treatment is not suspended.
