The meaning

What 'Aqd means in Islam

The word means a knot or a tie, and Surah al-Ma'idah opens by telling believers to fulfil their contracts. Fiqh requires clear terms, a lawful subject matter, and consent free of coercion and deception. The Hanbali rule is the most generous of the four, holding any contract valid unless a text forbids it, which leaves wide room for new commercial forms, and modern Islamic finance leans on that opening.
