The meaning

What An'anah means in Islam

Such a chain is accepted if the narrator is not known for tadlis and could plausibly have met his source. Al-Bukhari held that a proven meeting must be established; Muslim held that living in the same period with the possibility of meeting is enough, and argued the point in the introduction to his Sahih. The disagreement is narrow, but it changes the verdict on a good number of chains.
