The meaning
What Tadlis means in Islam
The word comes from trading in dim light so the buyer cannot see the flaw. The classic form is a narrator saying from so and so about a man he met but did not hear this particular report from. Scholars listed the known mudallisin in ranks, and as a rule they do not accept such a narrator's report unless he says plainly that he heard it.
