Talha ibn Ubaydillah
Shielded the Prophet ﷺ at Uhud with his own hand until it was paralyzed.
The account
At Uhud, when the lines broke, Talha stood between the Prophet ﷺ and the arrows and took them with his body; his hand was struck defending the Prophet's face and remained paralyzed for life. The Prophet said: "Whoever wishes to look at a martyr walking upon the earth, let him look at Talha ibn Ubaydillah." Among the earliest converts through Abu Bakr, tortured for Islam, and one of the ten promised Paradise. Of him and his day at Uhud, Abu Bakr used to say: "That day belonged entirely to Talha." He fell at the Battle of the Camel, an old man still in the saddle.
