سعيد بن زيد

Sa'id ibn Zayd

His father sought Ibrahim's religion before revelation; the son found it in full.

The account

Son of Zayd ibn Amr ibn Nufayl, the hanif of Jahiliyya who refused idols and searched for the religion of Ibrahim, of whom the Prophet ﷺ said he would be raised "a nation by himself." Sa'id and his wife Fatimah bint al-Khattab believed early; it was in their house that Umar heard Surah Ta-Ha and turned from executioner to brother. Among the ten promised Paradise, present at every field after Badr's season, and famously feared in du'a: when Arwa accused him falsely over land, he prayed, O Allah, if she is lying, blind her eye and kill her in her land, and Madinah watched it happen. Piety with teeth.
