The White Minaret · Damascus
The one address in eschatology named down to the meter: east of Damascus, at dawn, mid-iqamah.
The account
Prophecy is usually a compass; here it is a street address. "He will descend at the white minaret, east of Damascus, in two saffron garments, his hands resting on the wings of two angels" (Muslim 2937). Sham holds the ummah's end-time capital in the sound corpus: the Prophet ﷺ prayed for its blessing, "O Allah, bless us in our Sham" (Bukhari 1037), called it the land of the muster, and located the final believers' cohesion there: "a party of my ummah will remain manifest upon the truth… and they are in Sham" (Muslim 1924, with Bukhari 3641 unlocated).
The scene the minaret anchors is the Descent: Fajr assembled, the iqamah called, the imam stepping back, and the son of Maryam declining the mihrab to pray as a follower. From this coordinate the pursuit runs south to Ludd. Damascus's Umayyad mosque has carried a white minaret named for Isa for centuries; the Codex, like the careful scholars, pins its certainty to the hadith's words rather than to any current structure: the address is guaranteed; the architecture will be there when needed.
