The account
A man of the Prophet's ﷺ house: "of the sons of Fatimah," his name matching the Prophet's name, whom Allah rectifies in a night and sends when the earth is full of wrong: "he will fill it with fairness and justice as it was filled with oppression and wrong, and rule seven years" (Abu Dawud). Wealth in his days is given without counting. He is not named "Mahdi" in Bukhari and Muslim, the Codex says so plainly, but he stands described there: the imam of the believers behind whom Isa ibn Maryam prays at Fajr in Damascus, and the man at the House against whom an army marches and is swallowed at al-Bayda (Muslim 2882). His full account stands at Path node Al-Mahdi. His counterfeits, thirty dajjals claiming his cloak across history, are themselves one of the signs he was promised.
