A blind man interrupted and the Qur'an took his side

Abdullah ibn Umm Maktum was blind and poor. He came to the Prophet ﷺ while he was occupied with the leading men of Quraysh, hoping they might accept Islam, and interrupted with a question of his own. He was frowned at and turned away from. The opening of Surah Abasa records the incident: he frowned and turned away, because the blind man came to him. That passage stands in the Qur'an that Muslims recite in prayer. Afterwards the Prophet ﷺ is reported to have greeted him by asking whether he needed anything, and he twice left him in charge of Madinah while he was away from the city.
