The meaning
What Shadhdh means in Islam
The point is not that the man is weak. It is that when a reliable narrator's version cannot stand beside the version of narrators who are more reliable or more numerous, one of the two must be a mistake. The stronger version is then called mahfuz, the preserved one. Freedom from shudhudh is one of the five conditions of a sahih hadith.
