The meaning
What Riwayah means in Islam
Ilm al-riwayah is the work of carrying reports accurately. Ilm al-dirayah is the work of judging and understanding them. A person can be excellent at one and poor at the other, which is why some famous narrators were not jurists and some great jurists narrated little.
