The meaning
What Rawi means in Islam
Every rawi in a chain has a file. Scholars recorded when he was born, who he studied with, how good his memory was, whether he was honest, and whether he lived long enough to have met the man he quotes. A hadith is only as strong as the weakest rawi in its chain.
