The meaning
What Nisab means in Islam
It is set by the Prophet's rulings at about 85 grams of gold or about 595 grams of silver, with slightly different weights reported. Scholars differ over which standard to apply to cash: the silver figure is much lower, so it brings more people into zakat and gives more to the poor, while the gold figure sets a higher threshold and is widely used today. Below the nisab, no zakat is owed and nothing is blameworthy.
