The meaning
What Mutaba'ah means in Islam
If a hadith comes only through one shaky narrator, and then a second route turns up where somebody else narrates it from the same teacher, the doubt about that man's memory eases. A full mutaba'ah agrees from the narrator himself; a partial one joins the chain further up. When the support comes through a different Companion instead, it is called a shahid.
