The meaning

What Maqlub means in Islam

The word means turned over. Sometimes the swap is an honest slip; sometimes it was deliberate, done to test a scholar's memory or to make a chain look more impressive. A well known account describes the scholars of Baghdad testing al-Bukhari with deliberately switched chains, and his returning each text to the chain it belonged to.
