The meaning
What Makharij al-Huruf means in Islam
Getting these right is what keeps letters apart, so that one throat letter does not slide into another, or sin into thaa. The most common count is seventeen points, grouped in the open air of the mouth, the throat, the tongue, the lips and the nose, though some early scholars counted sixteen or fourteen. They are learned out loud with a teacher, not from a diagram.
