The meaning

What Lahn means in Islam

Lahn jali means mispronouncing a letter or a case ending, and because it can change the meaning, scholars treat correcting it as an obligation. Lahn khafi means shortening a madd, missing a ghunnah and the like, a matter of polish rather than sin. Everyone makes both while learning; the remedy is to recite to someone who can hear them.
