The meaning
What Amthal al-Qur'an means in Islam
A spider's house for false reliance, a lamp in a niche for light upon light, ash scattered by the wind for deeds without faith. The Qur'an says it sets out such comparisons for people so that they may reflect. Reading them as pictures rather than as puzzles to decode is usually the point.
