Dhul Hijjah · a Light

No days are better for good work than these ten

The Prophet ﷺ said there are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten, meaning the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah. The companions asked whether not even struggle in the path of Allah matched them. He said not even that, except for a man who goes out with his life and his wealth and comes back with none of it. The days belong to everyone, not only to the pilgrims. Somebody in a flat in Manchester and somebody standing on the plain of Arafah are inside the same ten days, and the report places ordinary acts done at home above what was normally treated as the highest deed available.
