He was most generous in Ramadan, like a loosed wind

Ibn Abbas said the Prophet ﷺ was the most generous of people, and that he was at his most generous in Ramadan, when the angel Jibril met him every night of the month to go through the Qur'an with him, and that in those nights he was more generous with good than a wind sent forth. The image is weather rather than accounting. The report also records something else in the same breath: an annual review of the text with the one who had brought it, night after night, for a whole month. The connection between the two halves is not explained. Generosity and the revision of the revelation are simply placed in one sentence about the same weeks of the year.
