The meaning
What Sadaqah Jariyah means in Islam
Jariyah means flowing. The Prophet said that when a person dies their deeds stop except for three, and named ongoing charity, knowledge that others benefit from, and a righteous child who prays for them. A well, a tree, a school and a copy of the Qur'an left for others are the classic examples. Endowing property permanently for this purpose is called waqf.
