What 'Azimah means in Islam
'Azimah and rukhsah are a matched pair. Praying four rak'ahs is the 'azimah; shortening them on a journey is the rukhsah. Scholars differ over which is better for someone who qualifies for a concession, though most hold that where the Prophet clearly took the concession himself, as with breaking the fast on a hard journey, taking it is preferred.
