The Believing Jinn
Seven or so of the unseen stood at Nakhlah, heard the Qur'an once, and re-founded their nation's religion overnight.
The account
On the road back from Ta'if, at Nakhlah, the Prophet ﷺ recited in the night prayer, and an audience he could not see stopped mid-journey: "a company of the jinn listened and said: we have heard an amazing Qur'an; it guides to right conduct, so we have believed in it, and we will never associate anyone with our Lord" (72:1-2). Surah al-Jinn preserves their entire internal debate: their astonishment, their confession that among them are the righteous and otherwise, their discovery that the heaven's listening posts were now guarded with flames, and their theology, sounder after one recitation than centuries of their elders': "exalted is the majesty of our Lord; He has taken neither wife nor son."
Surah al-Ahqaf shows their method on returning: "O our people, respond to the caller of Allah" (46:31), da'wah copied precisely from the man they had listened to. The Prophet later read to a delegation of them by night, and showed Ibn Mas'ud their traces at dawn. The Codex keeps them as the rebuke of every excuse: no book in their hands, no prophet of their kind, one hearing, total reform.
