The account

"I was brought al-Buraq, a white beast, taller than the donkey and shorter than the mule, whose stride lands at the farthest point of its sight" (Muslim 162). On its back the Prophet ﷺ crossed from Makkah to al-Aqsa in a night, the Isra, where he tethered it at the ring, the reports say, where the prophets tethered before him: revelation's own relay animal, serving the caravan of prophethood across the ages. Jibril accompanied; at al-Aqsa the prophets assembled behind their final brother in prayer; then the ascent went up beyond any mount's road. The Codex keeps al-Buraq among the animals of the signs as the tradition keeps it: a creature of light-speed obedience, proof that every scale of creation, beast, angel, heaven, was staged for the journey of one rider.
