The essay
The second half of the same verse. He begins, then He repeats it, and the repetition is easier, the Book says, though both are equal to Him. This is the Qur'an's standing argument for the resurrection, made from ordinary observation rather than from mystery: you have already seen Him do the difficult version of this. The word is the same root as 'Id, the day that comes back around every year.

قُلۡ هَلۡ مِن شُرَكَآئِكُم مَّن يَبۡدَؤُاْ ٱلۡخَلۡقَ ثُمَّ يُعِيدُهُۥۚ قُلِ ٱللَّهُ يَبۡدَؤُاْ ٱلۡخَلۡقَ ثُمَّ يُعِيدُهُۥۖ فَأَنَّىٰ تُؤۡفَكُونَ
Say: is there any of your partners who begins creation and then repeats it? Say: Allah begins creation and then repeats it. How then are you turned away?
