Only one woman is named in the Qur'an

Chapter 19 is called Maryam, and Mary is the only woman in the Qur'an referred to by her own name. Every other woman appears by relation: the wife of Imran, the wife of Fir'awn, the queen who came to Sulayman, the mothers and daughters and wives of prophets. Maryam is named directly, and the chapter carrying her name opens with the birth of Yahya and then gives her the longest continuous account of any woman in the book, including her withdrawal to a distant place, the palm tree, and her return to her people carrying the child. She is also the one person told she has been chosen above the women of the worlds.
