The meaning
What Ulum al-Hadith means in Islam
Every report is judged from two sides: the chain of people who passed it on, and the wording they carried. The classic handbook is the Muqaddimah of Ibn al-Salah, and Ibn Hajar's short Nukhbat al-Fikar is the summary students still memorise.
