The essay
One root, three meanings, and they are the same act seen from three sides. He opens what was shut: a womb, a way out, a locked understanding. He opens a case that people could not settle, which is why the word for a decisive judgement is from here. And He opens the way for those who had none, which is why victory carries the same name. Nothing in your life is sealed except by His leaving it sealed.
In the Qur'an
قُلۡ يَجۡمَعُ بَيۡنَنَا رَبُّنَا ثُمَّ يَفۡتَحُ بَيۡنَنَا بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَهُوَ ٱلۡفَتَّاحُ ٱلۡعَلِيمُ
Say: our Lord will bring us together, then open the matter between us in truth. He is the Opener, the All-Knowing.
