Angels · Offered to crush Ta'if, and was declined

ملك الجبال

The Angel of the Mountains

“If you wish, I will bring the two mountains down upon them.”

The account

He appears once in the record, on the worst day of the Seerah. After Ta'if's stones, Jibril called to the Prophet ﷺ: "Allah has heard what your people said to you, and He has sent you the Angel of the Mountains, to command as you will." The angel gave his greeting and made history's most terrifying offer with a servant's courtesy: "If you wish, I will bring the two Akhshabayn down upon them." The bleeding Prophet's answer defines the mission the Codex documents: "Rather, I hope that Allah will bring forth from their loins those who will worship Allah alone, associating nothing with Him." The angel of demolition met the prophet of mercy, and mercy commanded. Ta'if's grandchildren filled the mosques.
