١ Meet the twenty-eight
Touch any letter. Arabic reads right to left, and most letters change shape depending on where they sit in a word: alone, at the start, in the middle, or at the end.
✦ Touch a letter to meet it
✦ Six letters never hold the hand of the letter after them: ا د ذ ر ز و. Words break after these, even in the middle.
٢ The marks that make them sing
Letters are consonants; small marks called harakat give them their vowels. Touch a mark to hear how it changes the letter.
The three stretchers ا و ي make short vowels long: twice the breath.
٣ Sun letters, moon letters
Arabic says “the” with الـ (al-). Before 14 “sun letters” the L falls silent and the letter doubles; before the 14 “moon letters” the L is heard. Touch any letter to see “the” happen to a real Qur'anic word.
٤ Read your first ayah
The sentence that opens the Qur'an, and nearly every surah in it. Touch each word, then hear the whole ayah recited.

٥ The Letter Quest
Ten rounds. Three lamps. Can you name them all?
